YAYA FUENTES PROJECT
Hang Drum / Mapuche / Electronic / Ceremony, Ritual
Yaya Fuentes, born to the turmoil of the Pinochet dictatorship in her native Chile, relocated to Europe and there formed her life as a musician expressing her political views in theatrical and musical forms.
She is the only Chilean woman who plays the originally Swiss instrument Hang Drum and lived with its Creators (Luthier) in the Hang House, Bern, Switzerland. In her creations she interprets in Mapudungun and Sanskrit languages performing instruments of the world, thus forming ties with interesting renowned artists of Jazz and Chilean and Argentine folk music such as the Lecaros Brothers of Traditional Jazz, Sandra Amaya, Tata Barahona, and others.
